Job Summary
The Director of Employment & Prevocational Services will oversee the development, implementation, and management of a comprehensive array of employment and prevocational programs for individuals supported by OPWDD-funded services. This includes leading Supported Employment (SEMP) and Prevocational Services, ensuring individuals gain the skills, training, and opportunities needed to prepare for, secure, and retain meaningful employment in the community. The Director will supervise staff, ensure regulatory compliance, drive program outcomes, and build strong community and employer partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight for Supported Employment (SEMP) and Prevocational Services programs, ensuring compliance with OPWDD regulations, policies, and standards.
- Manage day-to-day operations, including staffing, service delivery, quality assurance, and outcome tracking.
- Supervise, train, and support job coaches, employment specialists, direct support professionals, and prevocational staff.
- Oversee the design and delivery of individualized prevocational training and employment readiness activities to help participants develop workplace skills, social competencies, and self-advocacy.
- Develop and monitor individualized service and employment plans in collaboration with individuals, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with local businesses, employers, and community organizations to create employment opportunities.
- Evaluate and monitor program effectiveness, ensuring continuous improvement, data integrity, and compliance with all OPWDD billing and documentation requirements.
- Facilitate staff meetings, professional development, and trainings to build team capacity and maintain a high standard of service.
- Advocate for individuals’ rights, goals, and preferences in both employment and prevocational settings.
- Partner with organizational leadership to identify and pursue opportunities for program growth and innovation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Education, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in vocational, prevocational, or workforce development services, preferably within OPWDD-funded programs.
- At least 2 years of supervisory or management experience in human services.
- Strong knowledge of OPWDD regulations, person-centered planning, and employment supports.
- Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with employers, community stakeholders, and training providers.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health record systems.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
